Kid’s Honey Bee Hive Tour
Price: $50/person
This interactive workshop allows kids to experience the magic of honey bees through a hive tour and honey tasting at Apoidea Apiary. This summer, we are hosting these tours every Thursday afternoon (weather pending) from 3:00-4:30 pm. Tours are limited to 4 children per session, ages 6 to 14 years old. The price per child is $50 for our Thursday afternoon tour and tasting sessions.
Kid’s Nature Sensory Class Bundle: 6 Classes + Hive Tour

This Kid’s Nature Sensory Class (Recommended Ages 7-13) will cover the basics of pollination and fascinating facts about how bee species have evolved to be super-pollinators. We’ll learn about how pollinators are important to fruit production and taste some fruity honeys. The in-class activity will be learning to make simple and healthy honey & fruit hand pie recipes.
Bees Love Trees: Allegheny Trail Hike: Kids Nature Sensory Class
Price: $25/person
This Kid’s Nature Sensory Class (Recommended Ages 7-13) is all about the importance of blooming trees that supply pollen and nectar to feed bees and other pollinators, particularly in the spring. We'll take a walk along the Allegheny River Trail to learn how to identify important bee trees then we'll taste tree-sourced honeys back at CoNectar.
Fun Fermentation with Funky Invasives: Kid's Nature Sensory Class
Price: $25/person
This Kid’s Nature Sensory Class (Recommended Ages 7-13) is about how invasive plants and insects can alter ecological balance with some funky results. We'll learn about how honey bees make a wild new honeydew honey because of the spotted lanternfly invasion. We'll also taste some honeys from other invasive sources.
Eliane Silver Liberati will teach us about the basics of sourdough bread making and we'll be snacking on sourdough pizza!
Bees & Cheese: Kid’s Nature Sensory Class
Price: $25/person
This Kid’s Nature Sensory Class (Recommended Ages 7-13) is all about how bee pollination is an important to making dairy products, like cheese. We’ll learn about how different types of cheeses are made, taste some honeys that pair well with cheeses and learn how to turn cheese and veggie boards into food art!
Metallic Bees Love Mints: Kid’s Nature Sensory Class
Price: $25/person
This Kid’s Nature Sensory Class (Recommended Ages 7-13) is all about wild metallic bees as important native pollinators. Their beautiful iridescent colors can make them easier to see in backyard habitats full of native blooming plants. We’ll taste some aromatic honeys and learn how plants in the mint family can make fun summer iced teas, mocktails and popsicles.
Tropical Pollinators: Vanilla & Cocoa: Kid’s Nature Sensory Class
Price: $25/person
This Kid’s Nature Sensory Class (Recommended Ages 7-13) is all about the pollination efforts of tropical pollinators to bring yummy foods to our table, like vanilla, chocolate and coffee. We’ll taste some tropical honeys, learn how to make vanilla marshmallows and have a s'mores treat!
